Re: Hamlet Police Chief Killed
A Mule Well Eddie, after I gave all those hints to Bruce, you came up with the mule answer, which is correct. I talked with some old guys years back who confirmed that it was indeed a mule. The shooter was in a farm field south of Hamlet in the general area which Bruce described. When he heard the ...

I've talked with some of the old timers that was involved in the search and they all confirmed that he was hiding...

Well you got the first part right Eddie. Chief John B. Fallow. Now comes the really tough part. What was the shooter hiding under to keep the plane from spotting him. Many years ago a Hamlet police chief was killed after responding to a domestic dispute. The killer went on the run and a big manhunt followed. A small plane was sent up to try and spot the shooter. This is a two part question. Who was the officer ? What was the shooter hiding under when the plane wa...

Telephone Number ???
This telephone number (582-1215) used to be the most called one in the old Hamlet-Rockingham phone book. Whose number was it? Don't try calling it now. It has long been taken out of service but some poor soul probably wound up with it later on.

A clue. There are several species of rattlesnakes but only one is prominent around the Hamlet area. And it isn't the Diamondback. Bruce Osborne should certainly know the answer to this one !!!

The trivia question for today is: What can be found around Hamlet that can be milked? It's not a cow, goat or any kind of animal or flower. The answer, when answered, must be specific as to what species. Good Luck !!!

How about something to do with hand-cars before they became motorized, sort of like the ones we used to see Charlie Chaplin hand pumping to get out of the way of a runaway engine? "Crank Hand"
If someone used the words "Crank Hand," who or what were they referring to? This term was widely used around Hamlet. And it wasn't a drug user as the word "crank" is sometimes referred to.
