When we moved to Hamlet (Longwood Park, we got our milk every morning by the milkman , don't know which dairy, but it was alway's 2 bottles, then they stopped bringing the milk, that's when I would go to Green's Gro. in Longwood Park and get our milk every morning

back the 1950's our water bill was only $2.00 a month that was before the town owned it. Ralph Robertson's Dad[ran the Hamlet Water Co. and Mr. Knight read the meters, the office was on Front St. beside the Ballroom now/b]

In 1948 I was 3 years old living in the Dr. W.D James Hospital now a apartment complex in Lauringburg I was born in the Hamlet Hospital5-31-45 my birth doctor was Dr.W.D.James. Dr. Bill whom became my family doctor, told me I was one of his last babies because his Dad retired in June of 1946

I got a 4 year Fireman education from the USAF Free, best job I ever had 24 on 24 off so out of 4 years I spent less than 2 years on the job, and it paid better than the Railroad, my first fire chief at Malmstrom AFB in Great Falls, Mont was from Hamlet,NC.
