The Wootons lived on Paige St. in Longwood Park when we lived there John, and Porshe both were clerk's on the Railroad and George who was drafted by the NY Jet's, got hurt the first week of tryout's and a man by the name of Joe Namath took his place at QB and we all know the rest of that story

Mrs. Nolan's son was named Bus not Buzz and he had a son named Frankie and her daughter Neda was married to Ernest King, Hamlet Police Chief and they lived next door to the store.

My uncle ,who was living in Wilmington at that time told me they had to dig out the shipping lane and bring the battleship in on high tide with a full moon, so not to run aground or hit the old cape fear river bridge

I ate there many times during the early 60's and danced in the Dance Hall in the Basement called Bobby's Canteen at night they always had a small band that played the top hits you had to have a membership card and pay a .50cent cover charge. Great times had by the Teens from Hamlet and Rockingham

I remember Swail's Shoe Shop on E. Hamlet Ave.it was located where EZ Pawn Shop in now, in the eary50's there was a Pence Shoe Shop on Front St. and another one just East of a Baber Shop on Hamlet Ave. can't remember those names

I was in the USAF stationed at Osan AB during the Ice Strom, but read about it in our local papers and letters from home. My youngest daughter Lisa was born Jan30,1969 and was at her Grandmothers house , no power they kept the house warm with the fireplace and warmed her baby milk there too
