I payed with that group of Red Ram Lineman in '63, missing Mike Jacobs in this picture, I was in the USAF in Great Falls,Montana as a fireman and Mikes Brother Marion,aka Boot's was my Fire Chief, I saw so many people from Hamlet and Rockingham

I remember back in the 1950's when the Hamlet, VFW would go to SC and buy around 200 dollars of Fireworksand had a big crowd behind the VFW watching,then the City of Hamlet came aboard and made it one of the best show's in the State

In 1948 I was 3 years old living in the Dr. W.D James Hospital now a apartment complex in Lauringburg I was born in the Hamlet Hospital5-31-45 my birth doctor was Dr.W.D.James. Dr. Bill whom became my family doctor, told me I was one of his last babies because his Dad retired in June of 1946

I got a 4 year Fireman education from the USAF Free, best job I ever had :D 24 on 24 off so out of 4 years I spent less than 2 years on the job, and it paid better than the Railroad, my first fire chief at Malmstrom AFB in Great Falls, Mont was from Hamlet,NC.

I see my teammate Mike Cochran to the right of Wes McIntyre, Mike Passed away in 2018, we played for the Yanks coached by Jack Porter, and when I went to work on the Railroad Mike and I were on the same crew many times and Jack was our Yardmaster :roll:

Rudy and John's sit right across hwy74from Revel's BBQ in the late 40's Streetie Benson ran a Bar and Grill at that location, Webb's FishCamp was the next business there when John Brigman moved and opened the Chicken Box[ on Mill Rd. beside Safie Mill/b]

I saw that boat Frank was building at his home in Pinecroft. Jim Cox and I went to his house to visit his wife our 7th grade teacher Mrs. Byrd Frank was the son of my 3rd. grade teacher and they both taught in the same room

When I lived in Longwood Park the city didn't pick up our Garbage, we burned it a 55gal drum and a Mr. Poston from the 5Point's area in Rockingham, would come by and dump the burnt garbage in his flatbed truck with rails high enough to keep it all in, can't remember the cost, but it was less than$5...
