those of you who don't know Fred Case planted those shrubs, when he worked for the Seaboard AirLineRailroad as a Yard Conductor. I helped him trim them in the early '50's

Think you are right TR4, I remember Mr. Austin Zero's Dad won a brand new 57 Ford there ever how much money you spent there you got X amount of ticket's he had the wining ticket and with 6 children he spent alot[, they had a fairly new 56Ford at the time/b]

Freddy Jolly was the one who painted the cop, never knew Steve helped, but he just lived down the street on Hamlet Ave, about a block on the south side headed east so they must have took him there to repaint him, Freddy lived on West Ave. too far to travel with Cop in tow[/Freddy was a great artist...

Bruce, I remember being at the Poolroom back in the 60's and when a passenger train stoped in Hamlet, young guy's headed to FortJackson would come in the poolroom and ask the Oldman for3% beer, ofcourse he didn't sell beer, so they moved on

The only time I drank beer underage was when I was in the USAF stationed at Malmstrom AFB Mont. where the age was 21, but you could drink in the Airman's Club if you were 18, I was 20
had to wait 5 months to go downtown Great Falls to drink at a Bar.

@ Donnie, Sherwood, was a classmate of mine, his Dad kept moving from Cayce,SC and back to Hamlet, he was a RR man, Sherwood worked for the RR on Cayce Yard where he got killed

I now live beside the Stewart Gordon House on Hylan Ave. when I first moved here, I found an ole Horse Shoe, now hanging on my storeage building that had to have came off a horse of his, he also had a small stable behind his house, still standing

Jody, I don't remember who won or the date, but I went to see Carolina and[Duke play at Durham in football and at halftime Duke released the Carolina ram shaved except for a blanket size area on its back with a Duke ''D'' painted on it, Even had a fight over the Bell before the game was over/b]

I would say that it was more like coal cinders than a fine coal ash, It was stacked up in a bank about 8' tall[ surly it came from years of SAL RR dumping it there from the steam engines after :: a hard days work :lol: /b]
