Does anybody know what HHS class was the first to receive their diplomas
in the Fairview Heights auditorium?

Don't know which was the first HHS graduating class to receive diplomas at Fairview, but my class may have been the first to receive certificates there for completion of 8th grade at Hamlet Ave. School, in May/June 1952.

I entered the 1st Grade in 1954, Mrs. Spencer's class (with the RED door leading outside). If I remember correctly, the burgundy drapes in the auditorium had the year 1952 in gold on the center hanging drapery at the front of the auditorium. Does anyone remember that too?

My wife Wanda Hart Hassler has a picture of her getting hers in 1964 and I'm behind her waiting on mine, I've always wondered why they held it at Fairview Heights and not Hamlet High School
