I first meet Tug, in the early 50's when I would go to downtown Hamlet, from Longwood Park to pay my mom's bill's. she worked the 3rd. at Safie Mill and would be too tired to go herself. My 1st. stop was Hamlet Hospital to pay our rent and on down Main St. PhonePower, then my last stop was on Front St. Water, and then go by Tug's to get me a Pepsi and talk with him You must know he had to be a good man to keep a 6- 7yearold boy[entertained for a hour or more each time I paid him a visit/b]
