Newest Hamlet published Author

Post by David »

Y’all,

Through the Heart of the South, the historical novel I’ve been working on for, uh, awhile, is now a real book, conveniently sized to fit all standard-measure bookshelves, which is what the attached PDF newsletter is about. If you can’t open the attachment, you can still go to my website, www.JodyMeacham.com

On the website you can:

· Order a paperback copy ($16) or eBook ($8.00) in the Kindle (Amazon.com) or ePub formats (Barnes & Noble nook and others).

· Download and read the first two chapters in a PDF document free.

· Read a Q&A with me and submit your own questions, which I will answer and post to the website.

· Read about the historical backdrop of the story:

o Equal rights.

o The Pullman Company and sleeping car porters.

o The Seaboard Air Line Railroad and the Silver Meteor.

o Cigarette smuggling.

· The acknowledgments section of the book.

· My biography (the parts of it I want to brag about).

I hope you enjoy the newsletter, the website and the book.

Jody

Thanks for posting this, David.

Henry Kisor, the retired book editor of the Chicago Sun-Times, has written about the book on his blog at http://henrykisor.blogspot.com/2010/10/ ... novel.html

The first customer review of my book has been posted on Amazon.com by a reader in New York that I don’t know: http://www.amazon.com/Through-Heart-Sou ... B0047742MY

"I really enjoyed the book! I was moved to (good) near-tears many times.

"I appreciate the effort the author made to 'live into' how individual Blacks experienced high school integration in a Southern railroad 'hamlet'. Whites too--but he pretty much knew that growing up there!

"The former Seaboard Railroad figures in as both backdrop and sometimes shares center stage. The author's depiction of rail scenes, human relationships and outdoor settings was superb."
