Sure do remember. Cannot remember the nice white head gentleman who ran it when I was a kid. But when I got in my grandfather's ( Arb Clemmer) way too much, he would send me down on my bike to by a left handed hammer or can of stripped paint. He would always tell me they were out but would have some in the next week. Guess I never was too smart as a child.

Thanks for posting this, David. I had the "pleasure" of stocking much of that inventory on the shelves during the summers I worked there. The white haired man was my grandfather, Colon Thomas. My dad, Monk, also worked there in his earlier years.
Today I shopped at the Hamlet Hardware (nicest people run it) and had the best time talking with people I haven't seen since childhood. So glad one of the old time places is still going strong.

TThomas, glad you chimed in and provided the name. Had been racking my brain ever since ( having a senior moment or two I guess) so glad to know. May be bad memory but did he not have an old classic car ( A model or something similar) that he drove around town some? He was always so kind to me even though my grandaddy sent me there for the dumdest things.

Awww DAVID...you beat me to it! Remembered the name at 3:30 this morning.
ALAN & JANET...you both have *great* memories! My grandfather did have an old Model T he drove around town and in the Christmas Parade each year. It became my dad's (Monk) car after my grandfather died and is on display in the Tornado Building. Was also used in the Billy Bathgate flic.
