Looks like J.V. Pruitt chewing out the Junior Varsity after a bad defeat. And the reason I say Junior Varsity is because number 15, Douglas Haynes, was a classmate of mine and we were in 9th grade during the 1952 football season. (Of course this could have been the Varsity team if 9th graders were allowed on the team.) Number 19 looks familiar also (Bobby Rea?), so he's probably another of the 9th graders.

Could the player immediately behind Coach Pruitt possibly be Jerry Sims?

This is a high quality photograph, an excellent view of what it was like in a real game locker room. Part of it is because it's from an original, not a newspaper photo, so it's in sharp focus. You can see the dust on the floor, on Coach Pruitt's shoes, the chalk on dark uniforms and the shadow behind Pruitt from the photographer's flash -- very detailed down to the ragged strings hanging from worn uniforms. But it's also not a posed picture, so it shows real emotions and circumstances. Not many coaches are willing to allow a photographer to shoot pictures under similar circumstances. In many ways Coach Pruitt, whom I knew, was a man ahead of his time.
