A good example of self-help reducing the cost of a meeting place, reducing actual cost to just a little more than half of what the building is valued. But I don't know that I -- as a dues-paying member of a private club -- would like to cough up a half-day's wages to attend a members-only function. I doubt many people were earning $15.00 a day in Richmond County in 1952 and the "attendance price" of $7.50, when adjusted for inflation, amounts to approximately $70.00 in 2016 dollars, a rather steep price just to get past the doorman for a little bit of socializing. Unless, of course, the club was providing a lavish meal and drinks for the price of admission.
