Years ago when SAL was running their "Silver Fleet" passenger service, there was a famous movie character who had a long running TV series, played the part of a hired gun, and rode the Silver Meteor from Miami to NYC thru Hamlet. This is a three part question. He loved to travel and take care of business if the money was right. He would sometime disembark the train and stretch his legs in Hamlet. Now, (1) What was the name of the TV series, (2) What was his "movie name", and (3) What was his real name? As I stated, he was a noted celebrity, and Jackie Gleason often came thru with his private car attached to the rear of the Silver Star and Meteor enroute between Miami and NYC and return. There were many celebrities in addition to these two who traveled thru Hamlet on a regular basis. Gleason traveled Seaboard by choice, rather than the ACL RR route. I used to work the passenger train extra board and can vouch for them.
You're correct on all three answers Jody.Jody Meacham wrote:From the hints I would guess:
1) The TV series was named "Have Gun Will Travel"
2) The star's "movie (character) name was "Paladin"
3) And the star's real name was Richard Boone.
If I'm correct, I had no idea that he used to travel through Hamlet.
