IMPROVE ROADBED.
CORPORATION COMMISSION ISSUES PEREMPTORY ORDER.
RALEIGH, N.C., March 29. — A peremptory order is issued by the Corporation Commission against the Seaboard Air Line reiterating the charge that the condition of the roadbed on the Carolina Central, Hamlet to Wilmington, is dangerous and unsafe to a degree, and directing that the company repair and put in proper condition all tracks, drains, resurface and retie the road and replace worn rails with heavy rails, and get the road in thoroughly good condition not later than September 1, 1907, and that the company report the progress made in this work each month, beginning May 10, 1907.

PUTTING DOWN HEAVY RAILS.
The Seaboard Air Line railroad makes a report to the Corporation Commission to the effect that during September twenty miles of seventy-pound rails were placed on the Carolina Central, between Hamlet and Wilmington, to take the place of the lighter rails ordered replaced with heavier rails by the commission some time ago; also that during the three months previous thirty-five miles of the heavy rails were put down, making fifty-five miles of new standard track.

The Wilmington-Hamlet road is 110 miles, and a large force of hands are working regularly on the new track.
