Happened in Cherryville, NC....Garland Stutts was the engineer of the other train....he was rescued by a high school student who went into the engine barefooted...and helped pulled Mr. Stutts out of the engine....I believe Willie Strong was the brakeman on Mr. Pait's train....

My high school classmate, Donnie Black, who was a lifeguard at the local Swimming pool was on the lifeguard stand and saw this happened. He jumped down from the lifeguard stand and ran barefoot about 1/2 mile to where the trains were and jump up on the trains and helped pull the men out. I lived about a mile from where it happened and I have a picture of the wreck. I tried to submit it but it won't let me post it.
