What I would like to know is what jokester put a stop sign at the end of that defunct train track?

Actually, sigmore, that track with the stop sign is not defunct. There are pictures on the depot's Facebook page and perhaps elsewhere on this site showing rail cars such as the Sperry rail geometry cars spotted on that track. The track is there to park rail cars for a day or two downtown without blocking the main line and the stop sign is a visual indicator for operating crews for where the track ends.

The Track with the Stop sign was called "The Officecar track" when I worked for the RR. When a Big Wheel came in on Amtrack in his Private Car a yard crew would switch it there, had water and power hook-ups
