David,
You are right, nothing better than a Tomatoe Sandwich with mayonnaise, salt & pepper and a glass of ice cold milk! _________________ No God, No Peace - Know God, Know Peace |

| If you want a real treat do up some hickory smoked grilled bacon. I just did 4 lbs of thick sliced bacon to put in the fridge for a good ole Bacon and Mader sammich with some fresh ground pepper and a dash of sea salt whenever I want one. I don't need no stinkin lettuce. I'm sorry GG, when you bring out the Hellman's, you bring out the best. |

Besides being a favorite sandwich maker, whether with or without lettuce, tomatoes were good right from the field, too. Just grab up a ripe one and eat it down if a couple of bites, even if you didn't have salt to sprinkle on it. But how many of you know that ripe tomatoes were excellent for doing a much needed field chore?
More than a few times I have grabbed a big ole ripe tomato off a vine and squashed it in my hands and then rubbed it on my arms all the way to my shoulders, washing away sticky ole tobacco tar. If you have ever cropped tobacco, or "handed" at the barn, you'll know what I'm talking about because I don't know anything else that was so efficient at removing that tar from hairy arms. _________________ Bruce Osburn

I've had that tobacco tar on my hands in the past (a long, long time ago), but I never knew that a tomato was good at removing it. Won't have any need to try it now either.
