Freddie, you're slightly off with your information above. Fuller's Grocery was owned and operated by Marvin Fuller, brother of Wayne's dad Kinchen (known as Buck). Marvin's wife was Lucy Caulk, my mother's sister.

Lynn, I alway's thought it was Wayne's dad, but I known you have the right info, and the S &S was just past the Hub on the right, that your Folk's or Kin had something to do with it didn't S &S stand for Steen & Steen :?:

The S & S stood for Smith & Steen. The Smith part comes from the actual owner of the property, who was Woodrow Smith of Laurinburg. His wife Sadie just happened to be another of the Caulk girls, and sister to my mother. My folks only operated the place for Uncle Woodrow and Aunt Sadie.
Now, when my family moved there 1/1/1953, the place had previously been known as S & F Grocery. And what did the "F" refer to you might ask? Well it was none other than Fuller, as Uncle Marvin and Aunt Lucy Fuller had previously operated the place. In addition to the store, there were also three rental cabins and a trailer park as part of the facility. It was located just west of the Coca Cola plant.
