That's some cool stuff right there. I remember hearing of her a while back here in Florida. I don't know why but I was sometimes called Benjine Oxendine, hope an to die it's the truth cuz.
Another Hamlet native, Dr. Cecil Gordon, who was a Hamlet High classmate of both Sigmore and Lee Meacham (Jody's brother), is setting Olympic history by being selected as a starter swim official at the games. Hamlet stands proud of both of these quality individuals.
I agree with what Tiz and others have commented about you Jody. You go the extra mile to involve others on a personal level. To this day, one of the most heart-felt stories I've ever read was the tribute you wrote about your father soon after his death--I believe it was in the Charlotte Observer when you worked for them.
Funny how one remembers things about his childhood. I was on the same little league team (Tigers) as Jody and his brother Lee. My memories were of their dad, mom and even their little sister Julie, being at every game giving all of the team support and encouragement. They knew all of us on that team and years later would stop to speak to us by name with that same support and encouragement whenever our paths crossed. Jody, Lee and Julie--you came from good stock...
And Veep I'll add to the family, Joe was so helpful to us in nursing school with post office concerns. He never ran out of patience with us and our crazy questions.
Oh me I just read the article crying throughout , that was wonderful and Joe would have loved it. I don't remember reading it in the paper, David thanks for sharing with us.
